How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
What's official, what's an estimate, and why the same number of views can pay 10 times more in one country than in another.
⚠️ Important: Google does not publish how much it pays in each country. The figures in the table are third-party estimates (with their sources linked) and they vary a lot. We don't apply them to any channel: on Top Creadores we only show official YouTube data.
The official part: the YouTube Partner Program
- Requirements to earn from ads: 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
- Revenue share: creators keep 55% of the ad revenue from their long-form videos and 45% of their allocated share of Shorts revenue.
- More information in the official help: YouTube Partner Program.
CPM and RPM: the two key terms
- CPM: what advertisers pay for every 1,000 times an ad is shown.
- RPM: what the creator receives per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and taking into account that not every view shows an ad. This is the number that matters to creators.

What makes a video pay more or less
- The viewer's country (not the creator's): an audience in the US, Australia or Germany is worth much more.
- The topic: finance, tech or business attract advertisers who pay more than entertainment or gaming.
- The time of year: from October to December brands spend more (Christmas season).
- Long-form vs Shorts: Shorts usually pay quite a bit less per view.
- Length: from 8 minutes on, ads can be placed in the middle of the video.
- Other income that doesn't depend on views: memberships, Super Chat in live streams, sponsorships and affiliates.
